Living Laura. A simple phrase, a simple concept, but something that could, potentially, change how I view the world and my life within it.
It all started when I decided, a while back, to become part of a readalong for the Little House books. Each week, we'd read a chapter, starting with the first book, and we'd plan and do activities based around the things described in the chapter of the week. I managed to keep this up... for about a week. I don't have a problem reading the chapters. Heck, I can get through half the series in an evening, given half the chance.
No, what tripped me up was the activities. Between work and other projects, I can't say that I really had the leisure time to do most of them. Sometimes any of them.
The sad thing is that some of the activities were useful, like cooking something or making some item of clothing that could easily be used. But I couldn't seem to find any room in my life for even those things.
Now, I'm going to make time in my life. It isn't hard to cook or bake something. Some suggested activities involve making clothes that I need, or at the very least want. And if nothing else, I admire Laura Ingalls Wilder so much that I'm going to enjoy the chance to get a more personal glimpse into her life and her lifestyle.
Hence the name of the blog: Living Laura. Which is exactly what I plan to do, to the best of my abilities.
All of the activities and information are here, on the Frontier Gazette, so if anyone stumbles across this blog and is curious and would like to join in, they can find all the information there.
